¡Hola! I’m Angie López

I am a New York State-certified Spanish teacher, a native Spanish speaker from Colombia, and the educator behind La Profe López – Spanish Tutoring.

For more than 20 years, I have helped students develop stronger language skills, become more confident communicators, and discover that learning Spanish can be both meaningful and enjoyable.

I work with children, teens, heritage speakers, college students, and adults. Each lesson is personalized according to the learner’s proficiency level, goals, interests, and individual learning needs.

My Teaching Approach

I believe students learn best when they feel supported, understood, and comfortable taking risks.
My lessons combine clear instruction, meaningful practice, and encouragement. Depending on the student’s needs, we may focus on grammar, conversation, pronunciation, reading, listening, writing, academic support, or cultural understanding.
Rather than using the same lesson for every learner, I adapt instruction to help each student build skills at an appropriate pace and experience genuine progress.

A Personalized Learning Experience

Every student begins in a different place.

Some learners need help succeeding in their Spanish class. Others want to prepare for an advanced course or exam, strengthen their literacy skills as heritage speakers, or become more comfortable speaking Spanish in everyday situations.

I take the time to understand each learner’s background, challenges, and goals. From there, I create lessons that provide structure, encouragement, and opportunities to use Spanish with growing confidence.

More Than Memorizing Vocabulary

Learning Spanish is not only about completing exercises or memorizing grammar rules. It is about learning to understand, communicate, and connect with others.

My goal is to help students develop practical skills while also building the confidence to use what they know.
